On March 8, 2023. at 10:00, on the occasion of FemFEST, HARABEL Contemporary in collaboration with BASH ART, presented the “Red Shoes”installation.
“Red Shoes” is a project that was first hosted in Mexico in 2009, conceived and created by architect and visual artist Elina Chauvet.
HARABEL recreated the installation in Tirana, which involved 600 pairs of red shoes that were installed in the “Mother Teresa” square, where they will remain for 6 months, representing all those women who have lost their lives to gender based violence. The red symbolizes blood, but it’s also the color of love and hope. The aim of this activity is to ensure that women across the country who have disappeared due to violence become visible again.
