“Existential Transparency” is the latest exhibition by Krist Dimo, curated by Jetona Koçibelli, showcased at the Center for Openness and Dialogue. Featuring thirty-one paintings, the exhibition is open to visitors from January 11 to February 14, 2025.

The solo exhibition delves into the complexity of human existence in modern and postmodern society. Through large, vibrant canvases filled with anatomical sketches and evocative human forms, Dimo explores the subconscious, capturing internal and external conflicts with raw and intuitive expression. His work invites viewers to reflect on the tensions of existence and their role in the world, transforming the viewing experience into a profound call for introspection.
Dimo’s creative process is deeply tied to his inner world, which he expresses as an intuitive journey. By embracing spontaneity and imperfection, he discovers deeper truths about himself and his work. Mistakes or “accidents” are not seen as flaws but as essential elements that enrich the creative process. There is a constant tension between structure and freedom in his art, as Dimo navigates these opposing forces to create meaningful pieces.
The artist also reflects on loss as a transformative experience. He describes the presence of a departed loved one as a wandering spirit, lingering in the lives of those left behind, filling them with a profound emptiness. His works serve as tributes to these souls, portraying them as ethereal, untouchable figures, without flesh, blood, or scent, shrouded in mystery.
Krist Dimo was born in Durrës, Albania, in 1956. Before 1991, his approach to painting was largely informal. After emigrating to Italy (Foggia) in 1991, he entered a formative period, dedicating himself entirely to his art. Over the years, Dimo has gained recognition for his evocative and introspective works, participating in several exhibitions across Foggia, Manfredonia, and Troy (1991–1998), as well as the “Onufri” exhibition in Tirana in 2001.
Dimo’s artistic style is deeply intuitive, often delving into the subconscious to explore the complexities of human existence. His paintings are marked by vivid colors, anatomical sketches, and evocative human forms, drawing viewers into a reflection on the tensions and contradictions of life. A member of the Taylor Foundation, Dimo is often described as a poet of “silence,” captivating audiences with the depth and introspection of his work.
